Wouldn't you want to reverse the order of these two? Standard usage of scientific acronyms introduces the full term first; otherwise, you can't just look for the first reference of an acryonym to get the expansion. Beyond that, expansion following contraction has a nasty prolix reek to it :D. I'm sure you know all of this, duh, but it's easy to miss the little things when you've got publishing-time tunnel vision :D.

thanks. this was not so much an abstract as a proposal written to be read by a committee to convince them to feature my paper. In the real version I will indeed include the long name first, but I was going by the advertising principle of grab-in-the-first-10-seconds and didn't want to bog them down with the long name at once. thanks, though, this is exactly the kind of input from people who know what they're doing that it's good to get!
