I know! I mean, of course kids are going to react to a student having a wardrobe of totally upscale designer clothes. Duh.
None of this stuff is new, at least not to me. Girls who wear pink have always got catcalls and snarky comments from the more rebellious kids. And it's always been in the middle schools, not just high school.
Like, when I was in the 7th grade, there were girls who would mock people who didn't wear Keds and shop at the Gap. Then in 8th grade, I got told I was "rough" because I started wearing black eye liner. There were actually girls my freshman year in high school, who tried to "fix" the way I dressed! Luckily, I snapped after that incident, got wise, and started hanging out with the more creative kids who had their own style. I fit in better with the punks/goths/skaters, because the way I dressed was never good enough for the preppies.
But even skater/punk boys can be mean in high school - they'll tease people for dressing too conservatively.
