Jen stood in line at a local coffee shop, staring up at the menu board, trying to figure out what she wants. There were too many options and the choice was far more difficult than it needed to be. She's craving sweet, but half the things on the menu can be made sweet just by dumping sugar in them.
Abby's been here a while. It's her escape - not too far from the lab but still a chance to breathe. It's been busy and it's not like the other forensic types know what they're doing. She's skimming through her phone, giggling at emails and messages from a friend. She glances up, sees Jenny, and waves her hand. There's space at the table and she doesn't mind company like her.
Jen sees Abby and waves back. Finally figuring out what she wants, she orders a snack and a coffee before joining Abby at her little table. "I always figured I had a better chance of running into you at a 7-Eleven than at a coffee shop," she says, sitting across from her friend.
