If you want, you and I could make our own chat! I've been having the urge to talk various fandom things lately, and MSC recently introduced me to that whole LJ chat thingy.
(Really sorry about bailing last night--but if I don't do things when I think of them, I find myself wondering days later why people are pissed at me.)
There needs to be more Owenfic relating to the whatsit episode with the memory device. That's soon, right? I mean, I know he doesn't change too much right after it directly, but still. Good Owenfic about noncon and what he felt and all that. Mmm, would be so good.
Yeah, I didn't even see the noncon angle until someone pointed it out to me the first time. Guess it's one too many pollenfics or something.
There does need to be more of that. And it's...the second ep? Third? Early on, at least. I love it when an otherwise asshole character has to think about what he does for a bit.
The pizza scene still makes me crack up. Poor, scared, gullible Gwen.
The non-con thing--I mean, I saw it the first time. But since I'm not really squicked by non-con in fic, it seems silly to let it bother me in a show. And it's not played for that, it's meant to be a joke. Which is really sort of annoying, but if we're meant to consider authorial intent, well.
I've no idea where I was going with that argument, actually.
I don't care what anyone says, Gwen does not get better ;) She does get whinier, and there is lots of crying. And Ianto looks so hot in a suit, you can ignore the crying emoness of him. Jack on the last few eps of Who is a beautiful thing to behold. Sheer pure flirty beauty.
She's just...I don't know. Not well matched, when put against Rose or Martha as audience stand-ins. It's not that I want her to be a Mary Sue. But it would be nice if she were vaguely capable, given that she's supposedly a police officer.
Ianto is very, very pretty. It covers a multitude of emo!tears.
Gwen gets better, but she's still prone to being a bit of a bewildered whiner. By the end of the season, I'm still not sure if I like her--which isn't a good thing for a central character who's set up to be the representative for the audience.

Tosh I like well enough, although the writers don't know quite what to do with her.
Ianto is made of fucking WIN.
And Jack. Well. Jack is quite possibly one of my favorite characters ever.

We are watching DW right now (the kids and I) but I have been reluctant to watch the last ep of Nine again. It ripped my heart out the first time.

(Don't mind me. I'm catching up on comments. Sort of.)
