A couple of weeks ago I had an opportunity to go a conference in Chapel Hill North Carolina, and I decided to tack on a vacation to see Washington D.C. and a friend in Virginia. Looks like you had a good time, Omoo! And I've only been on the DC metro a few times (the only time I can distinctly recall is when I was in DC during a weekend of my NYC internship and then I took the red line out to Bethesda so I could meet cartoondoggy) and I remember how long those escalators were :o

I really did have a good time. Partly it was exploring a new place and partly it was a relaxed visit after a hectic winter.

The long escalators were a lot of fun. As a kid in Montreal, I liked going up them and down them multiple times, but I think the length of these escalators would have had me thinking twice.
