i find this interesting because i knew birth tourism was a thing, but never thought about getting citizenship for educational purposes. like, just to network with kids of rich families.

I work for admissions at a top university in Japan, and from my experience this trend is bound to increase. Another tactic nowadays to avoid having to change nationalities is to ship just the kid abroad to study in a foreign international school during high school.
