Tyla has the girls shook. Overall I am not in love with this as a stand-alone effort. It’s fine, and better than her 2022 stuff. But overall…2018 still is unmatched for Hyolyn ( ... )

I thoroughly agree, coming from another Black kpop fan. Hyolyn was my first ever bias when I got into kpop in 2014. It's such a shame to constantly see her switch sounds and not play to her strengths. She's easily one of the best performers in the genre and yet the inconsistent schedules, controversies, and confusing genre choices seem to overshadow her talent these days.

Personally this is my favorite single she's released since see sea, but I don't think she'll stay with it lol. I wish she would join a label that could just let her develop her artistry and find a sonic identity...if that is something she's even interested in.

Simon Cowell said something while he was on American Idol that has stuck with me: the music you enjoy may not what you’re best at performing. Hyolyn is the epitome of this.
