I figured the rumor was false because the timing made no sense. He's still under contract to SM until the courts make a decision, and so if he even attempted to sign with someone else, no doubt we would have heard about it already.

THIS - It would make no sense to break his contract by signing with another company while still in courts to disolve it.

Exactly. While Geng never struck me as the most intellectual member of the group, he's also never come across as stupid. Signing under another company before being released from his current one... I think that would definitely qualify as a dumb move. Being bought out of his contract with SME, on the other hand, that I can possibly see happening if he loses, but that's something else entirely.

New article: http://ent.sina.com.cn/y/2010-03-17/09112899532.shtml

For what I gather thanks to Google Translate is that it's merely a compilation of all rumors.

However, there seems to be something about him making a public appearance somewhere on March 26?

At moments like these, I am damn glad I am bilingual. and can watch the interview and judge for myself what he said. havent watched the interview yet, but as for the article, it is saying the geng will appear in a television show on mar 26 and that is the first appearance after the court case is solved (i assume they assume the court case will be settled by then) and he will answer all questions on the show.

My Chinese is a bit rusty, but from what I understand, Hangeng is set to appear on "Migu Star Academy" on March 26, a program on DragonTV. The articles also covers some of the current rumors, including Wumeishi's SD5 rumor and another one about him joining and leading the new boyband MIC. There's a paragraph on Korean law that flew right over my head, but what it says basically is that the lawsuit is still going on. Many fans pointed that out, saying that Hangeng wouldn't be able to join another company yet. A lot of the fans hold onto the motto that if it's not out of Hangeng's mouth, they won't believe it.

That's the best I could do. Hope it helps?

Off to watch the subs, but I wanted to stop and say thank you for the rest of the post. After almost three full months of silence, the rumor on top of the interview was almost overwhelming, and it just didn't make sense. I'm glad it's been refuted by someone who is likely in a position of some "inside" knowledge.
