Pre-scandal, yes
Clean image (at the time), rags to riches childhood story (family hit by the economic crisis, training while having very little support by doing odd jobs and couch surfing, multiple failed debut attempts - then TVXQ), very big emphasis on hard work (he's consistently been described as a workaholic) and loyalty to SM.
He really threw everything through the window with this scandal

Maybe not the best marketing/promotion strategy for a comeback after being caught fleeing a non-socially-distanced hang out in an escort bar but ok...

I think it was described at an "adult bar" but isn't that simply an euphemism?

EDIT: went back to the article to check, and it was described as "an illegal adult entertainment establishment that only members can enter" = idk if it's an escort bad, but it's DEFINITIVELY sketchy
