I know the drama was cancelled because it was gay but I was hoping it was cancelled 'cause IT MADE NO SENSE. The only thing it accurately portrayed was that lesbians in a small town switch partners more than square dancers + that cat years and lesbian years is the same
Lol yes, it was the most nonsensical and completely harmless thing which makes giving it a warning or whatever all the more hilarious to me. Like how many Koreans probably downloaded and watched Carol or Blue is the Warmest Color but LilyFever is tainting the youth, lol. Might as well ban all the things then but I guess foreign properties are harder to get rid of.
I feel like it's because those are foreign movies so the old people in charge of the country can treat homosexuality as a foreign phenomenon whereas if it were in Korean media it would normalize homosexuality in Korean society and not just abroad. That's just my guess as to why they don't care about foreign media
Right! It's all different once there are young Korean girls involved. But, mostly I was tryna say that I think the whole thing is people trying to hide homophobia under faux concern (as usual) and so yes, they definitely care when their own people are making/acting in the content and not just absorbing it from elsewhere/watching white people.
I guess I have to check out this drama now. I was hesitant before because it seemed awkward but who knows when there will be a lesbian couple in a drama again. There's a couple on some drama now where it's supposed to be a guy in a women's body *rolls eyes* who ends up liking a woman so this drama should automatically be better. What these officials don't get is that seeing people like them on tv validates young people's identity. It also might encourage people to explore their sexuality but it does not mean they will end being queer.
Yeah, 'Come Back Mister', but I found even worst that because he is in the body of a woman now he seems to feel atracted to men too. Ugh! that annoyed me a lot. And I'm pretty sure if there is a kiss betwen Oh Yeon Seo and Lee Ha Nui's characters, they would make the kiss between the actor (Kim Soo Ro) and the actress picturing it like it's on his mind. I don't know if I'm explaining myself right lol
