No their actually over paid. Japanese stars get 20k max even though they have at least 3x the population, while Chinese stars get around 10x more money because they're bring in viewership of over 100 million.
Name another country with a population around 50 mil that pays more than 15k per episode for local actors.
this isn't 2011. Only like the TOP 3 Korean dramas are being exported nowadays. If it doesn't have KSH/LMH/LJS/KWB/HB China doesn't want it and Japan has over hallyu since 2012.
I disagree about Choi Ji woo, because she is forever milking her Winter Sonata days, and gets more money than others actresses with lots of hit dramas ?

I feel like Korea has a rule where once you reach a certain pay grade you never go back down. Like if she excepts less than 50k, she'll be admitting that it isn't 2055 anymore (lol)
GHJ is serious so good, I wish her dramas would get better ratings. I love how she's been able to pick really diverse projects/roles.
Historical dramas usually pay less, they don't have the added revenue of product placements and international broadcast contracts.
choi ji woo only got paid that much bc she's been so popular on variety recently tbh. i bet she wasn't getting paid that much a few years ago.
she's not really popular anymore, plus she's been out of the public eye for awhile. shame bc she is a great actress, i loved the queen's classroom and the show barely got any recognition :(
I don't think Jun Ji Hyun deserves 100k, LNY only deserves it because it really would be her big comeback.
KTH & SHG should both be at 50K. GJH has been really consistent with her ratings, but I think 40k is the right number.
Yoona is only getting the same as Suzy because of SME, but SME probably takes a bigger cut than JYPE.
Still they all should be paid more, because I know they're getting paid less than their male counter--parts. Except KTH, she's smartly stayed acting with her lessers post My Princess.

All they need is a mega hit and their pay go up! Must be good. Wonder how much Lee Min Ho gains? Bof, City hunter + Heirs. I thought PSH gained more..
