majoring in pre-prof biology because i have asian parents. biology is my least favorite subject so they were like, "okay fine major in anything, as long as it's science." why science =__= i recently took an intro to nutrition class and found myself enjoying it a bit (read: hating it less than bio). considering it.

this topic has been the cause of many arguments between my parents and i :\ personally, i enjoy history and literature but my mom shot that down in less than a second lol.

Omg I feel your pain bb. Why do parents do this?
It's hard enough without them trying to control our lives.
Fight on!!

i can't even imagine being in that situation. :/ my mom has always been sort of like, "do whatever you want, as long as it makes you happy and isn't hurting anyone." but then she was kind of pissed off when i graduated with a B.A. in english and no job/money. trololol? :|

even if you do science as a major, there are lots of different applications of it. you won't have to be stuck in a lab for the rest of your life or anything. :)

the trick is to keep at it! Trust me, it took a long time for me to convince my parents to let me do what I'm doing, but I kept at it and they leave me alone about it now :)

The parts that sucks is that unless you're in that lucky tiny minority, most of us never really "know." Tbh, it's a matter of trying several things and seeing what sticks. Unfortunately 18-late 20's is rife with confusion. I never really knew and by dumb luck stumbled into my current major. I feel for everyone, uncertainty is never fun.

I'm a computer science major, but I realized a little too late that it's not really my thing (apparently web design/graphics design are apart from this major lol oops). I could still switch majors, but I've already taken so many classes in that field that I might as well finish what I've started. So I decided to go the BA route to be able to take non-CS classes related to another one of my interests (linguistics), only to find that the whole department had been cut years ago. So now I'm just going to take French, which to me is related enough to linguistics haha.
