Rain is God's tears, Farfarello had heard as a child. When the sky opens up, it's because God and the angles are cryingApt, tonight. He skirted the busy streets - busy even in the rain, ah Tokyo, you and your millions, never-sleeping neon anthill churning with lives - boots squelching in the filth of his preferred alleyways ( ... )

Their missions were not dissimilar. It was unfortunate, on some level, that they were unable to communicate in any way other than with their fists and knives. Farfarello too targeted those whose souls were blemished... only the blemish was placed there by his own hand. He gathered the faithful, those with souls white as snow, and brought them suffering and pain under the watchful eye of their savior. They cried out of salvation, and their mute God did not reply. Farfarello smeared doubt and anger and uncertainly over their gleaming faith and sent them to Heaven, where the praise they sang at the feet of the Almighty was forever tainted with with realization that He did not truly love them. That He had not saved them.

The faith the Great Liar fed on, without faith I am nothing, was soiled, poisoned even, with every body Farfarello left cooling in the pews. He would be curious to hear that his twin acted to purify that faith... for a definition of curious that would scatter his viscera across the alter while he still drew breath ( ... )

That scream doubled almost immediately, echoing through the church. He could move, could dodge the blow easily but what was the point in that? He raised his own blade, ready to parry and to receive his twin's advance immediately ( ... )

This time, Farfarello let the blow land. He was curious how strong his twin was, and curious too to know how the other man would react when one of his punches impacted.

Would he gloat, like he'd expect one of Esset's minions to do? Would he vanish, perhaps, into the illusion that created him? (It was still possible that the other Farfarello wasn't there at all, and that someone was putting images into his mind.) Would he try to turn to punch into a grab, taking full advantage of the opening offered, or would he see the test for what it was and recoil his arm quickly, before Farfarello's blade could pierce his wrist?
