Anonymity = Freedom to be an Asshole?

Every now and then I will notice in the comms I frequent, or just on the internet in general, that some people become complete douches when they don't have to answer for their comments/actions (or maybe some people just ARE douches and act that way in the real world, I dunno, but I'm assuming here that isn't the case). I agree. In my time on sf_d, I've seen a lot of people go ballistic on people for making remarks that were sexist, racist, ableist, etc. And many of those people did admittedly turn around and make further asses of themselves upon being told they were being racist/sexist/ableist, but the fact was, in many cases they didn't KNOW they were saying things that were not okay.
