This one is the nearest I'm going to get to an Anywhere But Here story - the major location is nowhere near Hogwarts, though it does not appear on the Challenge list...

I’m usually not particularly fond of any playing with afterlife. But this story is wonderfully amusing and thoughtful at the same time ( ... )

Thank you for your very valuable comments - people on LJ are generally very kind to fics, but I need sensible concrit in order to improve!

I squirmed rather when I caught on to what you meant in my very heavily and elaborately embellished hell scene... I don't think I'm going to go back and change it at this late stage - but it's definitely something to watch out for in future.

As is the tendency to underlining and italics. If you saw the way I used to write (there is nothing in the pubic domain, thankfully!), you'd realise that I've already come a long way! But it's a problem - and plainly one I need to keep an eye on.

Thank you also for some very perceptive positive comments!

Surfed in from the Genfic rec list- glad to find this story.

I think my favorite bit was when they first thought Snape was there in Hagrid's place- was sad, but also funny. Hee- or The Ballad of Severus the Small and his Tiny, Tiny Stick. Lots of nice little touches and enough plot to keep me wondering what would happen next. Thanks for the read.

I absolutely adore this! I can imagine Severus in the garden paradise with Dumbledore, getting ragged on for eternity. Good for him that he decided to remain in Valhalla-like paradise instead!

Just read this again and have to say it is a blessing that somewhere, somewhen, somebody takes Severus' side, and understands why he did what he did, and how heroic he really was.
