Remus told her to stay at home with her mother and Teddy. He didn't want their son to lose two parents if it came to that. Children needed their mothers and if anything happened to him, then Teddy had Harry to teach him the ways of being the son of a Marauder.
He had brought the picture of Teddy, just in case, he could see his son for the last time before he died. He would have Tonks' kiss as the last thing to touch his lips. If he were to die, that's how he would have wanted to go.
As he saw a mass of bubble gum pink hair make a way toward him, he had to admit that he always knew she would come to join the fight.
