It's just another end user device for a market Apple has yet to compete in (which in this case is the e-book market). From a production standpoint, I see no use for the iPad, as you can't design anything through it.
I only have just your average cell phone, lol. I've used one of those thingys that hooks to the internet a couple times. It's so weird to me that you can touch the screen on those things now and get it to do things.
It is a little weird. Other than the Nintendo DS, I'm not really sold on handheld touch devices just yet. I've tried the iPod Touch a few times at the Apple store before, but I'm not really comfortable handling it. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to...
The main point the news pointed out this morning was two people can play a game at the same time (big whoop). I dare not to even look at the price and besides that touch screen scares me.
In addition, 3G models require a monthly fee from AT&T, which alone is something to turn me away. While I think 3G technology is convenient, I don't really need it. Also, if I'm gonna spend that much money for a device at the Apple store, I think I'm better off buying another one of their laptops.
