Here we have a slew of unnecessary information on the game Crypt Disasters, designed by Cypher for use on the NV, for those you that like having such details.
Crypt Disasters is your typical dungeon running type RPG, similar in graphic style to
Baldur's Gate and with a bit of a puzzle element. There are several difficulty settings, so the average player can have a good time while some of the super intelligent citizens of SP can still get something of a challenge out of it.
There are several classes of characters that the player can build as they wish. The basic look of the character, as well as their name and starting stats, are left up to the player. The classes themselves are based off his fellow New Mutants teammates.
Classes:
The Cannon - This is a fighter type, heavy in the physical department with little resistance to magical attacks. It has abilities that grant temporary immunity to physical attacks as well as limited (but difficult to control) flight. Bonuses are granted if the character is placed in the leadership position. It's blatantly modeled after
Cannonball.
The Archer - Another physical fighter. This class grants no bonuses to protection against any physical or magical attacks, but does give high bonuses to dexterity and accuracy, making them good and both long and short ranged melee. Bonuses are also granted if the character is placed in the leadership position. Based off
Danielle Moonstar.
The Werewolf - This character type has the ability to shift forms, granting tracking abilities that other classes lack. There are three forms the character can take: human, half-transformed, and wolf. The second form grants the most bonuses, while the full wolf form grants an increase in speed plus the ability to get into hard to reach locations. The human form has a slight affinity to magic. This class is modeled after
Wolfsbane, despite the fact that she's no longer a member of the New Mutants.
The Psychic - Members of this class are able to posses the bodies of others/their opponents. They have some magical affinity as well as heavy defense against psychic attacks. They do not actually speak telepathically. This class is modeled after
Karma.
The Elemental - This class grants the user control over a certain element of nature, to a degree. There are three types: Lava, Treant, Surge. These allow control of magma (and fire to an extent), foliage, and water. Earth and Wind control are not options, and the element must be chosen at creation. All attack types are limited to that element. This is loosely based on
Magma.
The Solar Flare - Similar to the elemental, but without as many magical capabilities. Characters in this class absorb energy from the sun, which grants them extra strength (though not invulnerability), and limited flight. They have limited flame attacks. Modeled after
Sunspot.
The Sorceress - Despite the name, this class doesn't cast many spells, though they can create portals to transport the party around the map. They can, every so often, summon demons under their command and are capable of freeing other party members from demonic possession. Based off of
Magik.
The Technolife - By choosing this class, the character is automatically turned into a partly technological being. Attacks are mostly physical, and they are granted no magical affiliation, but they can shapeshift into a variety of useful forms. Modeled after
Warlock.
There is no class based off of Doug, as he felt that would be awkward of him, as the creator. However, a little of him may have rubbed off into the storyline...
The Storyline:
You have been raised from the dead. You have no memory of your past life save for the names of several old friends you can't quite get out of your head. The first part of the adventure is solo, as you traverse the tomb you've found yourself in trying to reach the surface. Once you do, a strange hooded figure will point you in the direction of one of your former fellow adventurers.
It's not only you that's been brought back - dead heroes and villains alike are being raised all throughout the countryside. Most of them are rotting corpses, abominations that need to be laid to rest again. Why you were different, no one can say. The best you can do is locate your old friends one by one and together solve the mystery of whatever spell has stricken the land.
Currently, the climax of the game comes at the castle of the king where he's about to give you the answers you seek. However, before he can, he's struck dead where he stands and you're left with nothing but the echoing laughter of a woman.
Expansions are planned. Multiplayer mode is available.
