[Upon setting off along the route leading out of New Bark Town, Kratos had wasted no time to start training his trusty Growlithe, now named Gardie for his loyal nature. Sounds like Hoothoot. Yes, that's the species name. They are quick little owls that pop out and attack suddenly. You'll have to be careful where you camp, some of them stole a potion out of my bag while I was asleep on Route 29.

[Ash is speaking from experience, having emerged from 29 just yesterday.]

Hn, so I can see. [As he follows Gardie, the owl glides down into view, flapping furiously, giving his Growlithe a clear shot.] Gardie, use Ember!

[Gardie barks and there is the clear sound of a spark of flame being sent somewhere, a pained hoot, and a thud as the bird hits the floor.] I was hoping to catch one. [Kratos says, in reply to Ash.]
