I am having my own little freak out about my fic. I decided to excise one subplot and am planning to expand certain subplots in rewrites. Okay, fairly standard stuff. Well, I thought when I tookout the wayward subplot I would have about 40-45k words. But nope! Imagine my surprise when I ran the word count on my draft last night, and it turns out it's actually over 65k *after* jetisoning the outtakes, which means I have a LOT more editing to do than I was expecting.
If edit as you go works for you, that's great, but I find that is a great way to ensure I never finish. Get the words out, then edit once the draft is done. Make notes of changes as you go so you don't forget what continuity errors you need to be fixing.
Also, I'm a nonlinear writer, so edit-as-you-go is totally meaningless for me.
My characters were just way more chatty than I thought they were. LOL.
I was so thrilled to finish my BB in time, now I just need to find a beta and I can stop worrying about that. While waiting for the art claims I'll probably go through my story to make any changes I feel are needed.
You know we can't do anything about your posting date over here. Sorry. :(
If you have a real conflict with a particular date, you can let Wendy know (and do), but she usually doesn't take well to people just begging for extra time.

I can beta though, if anyone wants me. TBH I'm not sure there's much I'm not willing to do, you'd have to try me :)
