Don't get too stuck on any title, that's my first advice. But don't toss a good one - modify it.

That could be as simple as "the devilS you know", "the devil you knEw", "NOT the devil you know", "the devil you need to know" and so on, just for starters.

Try playing with your title and see if there is a way that it will fit JUST your fic.

The quote actually is, "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." Which of course implies you should deal with a known quantity, even of questionable substance, rather than something you don't know about.

My point is that the phrase is commonly known and often quoted, so your adopting any part of it for your title would be fine.

Don't stress about having the same title as an episode. However... please refrain from posting further title ideas directly to the comm... it destroys anonymity and that violates BB rules and creates headaches (in the future, consider making your postore generic, e.g., I have a great idea for a title, only it's the same as a title of an SPN episode, can I still use the title?). Okay? Got it ( ... )
