Thus the age-old philosophical question "Who watches the watchmen?" is answered. It is the citizens who watch them... On the silver screen. :P

That was me, btw. I'd probably go see the film if I can find a Watchmen fan to watch it with me. Not really a fan of the ending. So much for "the end doesn't justify the means".

Ngerk hahaha corny!

I was going to watch it this Friday but my college blockmates want to go out for dinner instead. (Which is fine by me.) You should watch, kahit mag-isa ka lang.

Ozymandias was the farthest stretch. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but his British accent kept slipping.

According to Matthew Goode, the actor playing Ozy, it was intentional. He decided to play up Ozy's German origins by having him go into his "natural" accent when stressed or he has privacy...

I see! That was cool. Unfortunately he sounded British to me. I don't think I'm very good at differentiating accents.

Yeah, blame Goode for that. XD

I've already watched the movie earlier this week, sooner than expected. But not entirely suprisingly, in Germany close to nobody (compared to the US) wants to see it at the theatre, so after only one week it was set to move to a venue with a smaller screen, so I went on Wednesday before the change.
Even with very limited background knowledge I didn't have a problem following the story. I probably missed a lot but I think it was enough. Not sure what to make of it though. I certainly liked it, and it was visually very interesting. And I was never bored despite its length. But it didn't totally grab me. I think it wasn't able to tell a "tight" story. Which isn't entirely surprising giving the "epic-ness" of it all. But I think the desire to "copy" the graphic novel also played a role why it didn't feel like a compact movie even though the scenes themselves were good (and in many cases you could "see" the comic panels even though I haven't read the comic yet).

When you say "a venue with a smaller screen," do you mean your theaters have screens of different sizes? If so, does that mean they charge different amounts for tickets as well? I never really paid attention to the sizes of our screens here ( ... )

I can't imagine that at a theatre with multiple screens, all screens have the same size.
The cinema that opened here a few years ago has six screens. A very big one (620 seats, screen 20x7 metres), two larger ones (about 200 seats, screen about 11x5) and three small ones (100 seats, screen 8x4 metres). Thankfully, all six are really good (screen size, sound, seating ( ... )

Our older theaters are still like that. Come to think of it, newer ones have cinemas equipped with THX sound systems or La-Z-Boy chairs, but I'm not sure the screen sizes differ. The prices do, though.

Do you mean that he is smart because he had the wealth to attain knowledge, or he is rich because he used his intelligence to gain wealth? I think I remember he was born rich, but it could work either way.

The first German edition! That is very cool. Everything is translated into German? And why are you almost too scared to touch it?
