hahaha i thought the same thing a few weeks ago when I saw it on TV. There is even that scene where they look back before leaving the ballroom. For shame Katie, for shame.

Yes! I was just watching it and thinking "Why does this feel so familiar?" and then they were suddenly not frollicking in the countryside but in a dance and he was walking away with that sheepish/sad backward wave and she was like "CHOKE BACK THE TEARS AND THINK OF ENGLAND GIRL" and it hit me!

Ohhhh, if they had avoided that scene, I would not have even noticed.

The clip seems to be a hodgepodge of flashbacks so the timeline is rooted but it makes good sense. She is in love with her 'one true love'. He is sent off to war and dies. She then has to marry a man she is not dazzlingly in love with. Poor emotions ensue.

BUT. But. I get that. She has a one true love, he goes off to war. She meets another guy she appears to mildly resent (or at least holds out the sexytime with), then he dies, then she goes to his funeral.

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

I think half of the flashbacks are about her new life with the resented husband and the other half about the old life with the one true lover. The funeral is for the one true love and probably happens before she meets the new husband.
