"You could have just asked me." Gisela leaned against the doorframe, her arms crossed and her eyes watching him with quiet disapproval. She knew his fight with Gun had been taxing, but she hadn't known to what extent.

He jumped, almost fell. "You snuck up on me," he accused. Knotting the towel more firmly around his waist he offered the rag to her with a resigned sigh. "I didn't realise that I was hurt this badly. Sometimes I forget my age."

"You should take better care," she admonished, taking the rag from him and wrinkling her nose at the smell of it. She carefully drew it over his shoulders. "Gun seemed well. But then, he went to the healers." She bent to look over his shoulder, her tone light. "Are all you old men so fragile?"

"You know," he mused, "I really am. I don't have everything I want, but I have everything that I can have." He pressed back into her arms. "I have a daughter that I love, a king and kingdom I'm honoured to serve and I am surrounded by my friends. It's not the life I thought I'd have when I was your age but it's a good one." He sighed.
