day 55, later morning

Mar 25, 2010 17:33

Gunter felt a little better after walking back with Josak, though he was still unsure about himself and his place. Regardless, he really just needed to find some way to lessen the stress. He wasn't about to hold on to these tensions until their trip to the spa - not to mention he was feeling a need for a bath anyway ( Read more... )

He was in a bit of a hurry this morning, there were so many things he needed to get back to, the most important one being Gisela who he had promised to meet later as soon as he was looking presentable once more. Taking a bath would not be on his list otherwise.
Gunter lingered in the changing area a bit, pulling on a fluffy full length robe over his waist towel and clutching the top of it closed further with one hand. He hadn't been near a mirror since the day he had left ShinMakoku and he was certainly of a mind to continue avoiding them. He wasn't sure who he might run into in the castle baths but he decided that it didn't matter much. He just needed to get clean and get out and hope any gossip that started about him didn't get too out of hand.
When he finally approached the water he was at once relieved and maybe even a bit excited to find his double was the only one here.
"Goodmorning, uh, Gunter!"
He gave a bright cheerful welcome to himself.
"I'm so glad to have found you since we didn't get much time to talk last night."

Gunter wanted to just shove his face in the water after his own voice speak to him in a cheerful manner, but that would be completely counter productive. He knew their meeting would be inevitable anyway, he just hoped it wouldn't have been so soon. He breahted a heavy sigh and decided that it wasn't worth the effort to fake a smile. "No, but it was a rather crowded pub and, I don't mean to be offensive, but I had a bit of a difficult time adjusting to the notion of your presence." Well, still was in a way.

He got the feeling he wasn't all that welcome for some reason and continued to stand awkwardly by the side of the pool. This being the only bathouse aside from the royals private one or the showers in the soldiers barracks he didn't have the option of bowing out to have this conversation later.

"I'm sorry, I don't suppose there is a way to make this any less strange... How have you been keeping, since you've been here? Is everything going well for you, any sort of problems I might be able to help with?"

He toned down his cheerfulness a little although he really couldn't help the bright curiosity he had for knowing more about this other him.

He couldn't blame the other for how he was. He knew that personality quite well. He tried not to look at him for the time being, sinking into the water up to his shoulders and averting his eyes. He'd tied his hair up, so at least it wasn't sprawling everywhere. "People here have been rather generous and surprisingly kind. Though I believe there are a few that still might be wary of me." As well they should be. "It's just been a nostalgic journey since I've been here, mostly. I come from a place where I had nowhere to belong and here, for the most part, have been welcomed quite warmly." Which wasn't boding well for his plans either.
