*standing near an alleyway by the train station with his hands in his pockets, watching people pass by with an appraising eye* Anybody know a way to the military headquarters here?

*stationed near the revolving doors leading out to the street, very bored, and trying to crane his neck to read the headlines on the newspaper stand in a nearby kiosk* Sir, I can help you out with that.
Oh. That's a shame. *glances around at the nearby buildings, looking hopeless* I have a terrible sense of direction. *watches a couple of people pas by, then turns back to the guard hopefully* Maybe you could show me whenever you have a break? I don't mind waiting.
*smiles* Not at all. *walks over to the kiosk and sorts out some Amestrian coins to buy a paper, then casually walks back over to the guard* I see you're a state alchemist. *nods toward the silver watch chain*
*raises his eyebrows* Indeed. Well, the recruitment office is on the second floor at the end of the hall, not hard to find. You interested in just military, or are you going to try for the National Alchemist branch?
Well, it is a lot of studying... *puffs up slightly* Yeah, it's twice a year. Heh, actually, the spring session is next week. If you don't get in, there's always next time, right? *smiles amiably*
*grimaces* Yeah... well, we had one. He left the military awhile ago. Had a kid or something, his wife probably thought it'd be too dangerous. We lose a lot that way, 'specially with how everything's been lately. The guy has a whole slough of doubles, too. You heard of that whole phenomenon, right? Word is, none of em needs an array. Don't think we have anything like that in this term's bunch, though. You should be on pretty even ground.
That's a shame. Is he still in Central? If I could meet him, I mean, that'd be cool. He's kind of a legend, even all the way in Aerugo.
I've heard all kinds of interesting things about Central. It seems like quite the place. *opens the newspaper and skims a few of the headlines for any news that's followed from Aerugo* Are the doubles why it's dangerous?
