Chapter Four: I Make A Game Plan.

[ Today, the doors to the high school gym are closed, with a sloppily written Secret basketball strategy meeting note taped to them. Inside, there are no drones, just school-aged kids. ]

Okay, today I want to figure out some basic stuff. First, what have people tried to get out of here? Second, what's the most dangerous stuff that happens here?

Personally, I'm not sure what plans people have had to get out, since they never seem to get far, I'm afraid. As for dangerous... Westport was pretty bad, a-as well as the Soviet town...

I punched one in the chest as hard as I could and he barely flinched. They're pretty solid.

Invulnerable enemies, my favorite.

[ I let out a long sigh, thinking of the first time I'd fought someone like that. It had been about as productive as hacking at a chunk of marble, and a lot more dangerous. Of course, even then I'd had some demigodly talents up my sleeve. Here, I had nothing. ]

I think you can take them down if you try hard enough, but they... they swarm you. You're overwhelmed too quickly. Each time, so many just kept appearing...

Has anyone tried swarming them?

Not that I know of. When they showed up here, people mostly tried to stay out of their way. When they were in Westport, if you attacked them you'd get chemical burns, and if you shot them they exploded into poison gas. I don't think that happened here at all, but I don't know for sure.

Sounds like people could be organized better when a fight comes up.

Mayfield is good at doing the unexpected, and there's so many people here coming and going that it gets difficult to organize, I'm afraid.
