I'm really glad you posted this here! I saw it over on tumblr and it is a pita to comment directly.
Just an amazing picture. You might've been aiming for simpler, but this has a life about it that is very true to a work center. There are so many details to look at and it feels like a very well-lived (worked?) in area. I think my favorite part are the post-it notes stuck to the one guys keyboard. (Or the stoveless tea/hot water/coffee pot).
The size is fine on my monitor (1920x1080). You could probably even afford to go a tad larger if you wanted!
Yeah, tumblr is kinda weird when it comes to comments - you only see them when people reblog and I'm not even sure if people can comment on my pictures without reblogging and how to track it if there's no notifications. I hope they'll do something about it eventually. But eh, good old LJ has to have some perks. :]
And yay! It's good to know it's not too big. I can definitely go larger with my new monitor but the picture is originally A4 and I prefer not to blow them up much bigger than they really are as long as all the details are visible.
But I have to add, big resolutions rock! I still can't get used to the fact I have room for multiple windows and such. X)
Coffee machine should be somewhere near the wall, really. Or it will be moved there after the first Famous Spill of McFael's.
Put a projector on the table instead. They probably pull retractable projection screen over the window wall (not shown, below the bottom edge of a picture) (after they close the blends of course)
And a projector is a nice idea, really! Thanks! At first I was thinking of a projector hanging from the ceiling - we had some in the university and NONE OF THEM EVER WORKED. So maybe just a regular projector will do.
A projector in the ceiling is a good idea for a large conference room. Smaller rooms usually have portable projectors, for the benefit of being portable... wink-wink, nudge-nudge...
And also it's much less expensive to set up - you just plug in your laptop using regular VGA/HDMI cable.
Also, nobody will want to have a coffee machine in the middle (literally) of a meeting in a control room. It distracts people mightily :)
But the main reason - I would not want to plug in my $2000 laptop anywhere that close to water... or coffee... :)
Those are all very good points! I guess I never thought about the water factor because I'm pretty much a desktop user. But I don't like when people wave drinks around close to my tablet.
All right, in the corner it goes! And I have to draw something about an epic coffee spill disaster.
