Oh, this was very well done. I suspect that Arvin could have schmoozed his way past most fathers, but if Otto has seen the evil in men, then he can see through Arvin. Strange that he didn't make any objection prior to the wedding, though. Perhaps it was something Arvin did recently that finally made Otto see him for what he is (like he recently found Rambaldi?). And I like the explanation for why she marries a guy so much older than herself (longing for daddy's love, competing with dead sister?).

Interesting that Laura reminds her of her sister. I suspect that Laura and Emily were not as close of friends as either of them led their husbands to believe. I think each of them, for their own different reasons, quite disliked the other.

Thank you!

While I think Irina might've pretended to be closer to Emily, I feel that Emily really did regard Laura as a close friend.

Really? I thought she had kind of a weird reaction to her when she saw her on the plane. I mean, obviously she was a bit freaked because she thought Laura was dead. But she kinda gave Irina a not so friendly look when Irina and Sloane went off to go discuss stuff.

Well, one, she was back from the dead, and two, her husband just came out as a bad man for real, who is apparently working with... Laura. Who is Sydney's mother. There's a whole lotta reasons for her to be not be Laura's biggest fan then. However, I always conjectured they were friends.

This is beautiful. I love Emilyfic, especially that which offers glimpses into her early years with Sloane. This is really lovely, and so well-written. Excellent job -- thanks for sharing it.

I like! Very creative backstory. Especially interesting is the unspoken parallel between Emily and her unknown half-sister and Sydney and Nadia.

Lovely characterization of Emily. Followed by ghosts her whole life: sister; then baby daughter.

Aw, thank you!

Poor Emily. Her life was hard.

What a fascinating glimpse into Emily's past. Yes, she had far too much trust in Arvin. Poor Emily.

He was, as she told Sydney, her whole life, poor lamb.

Thank you!
