I like -- and that's a great rationale for Irina's "endgame." I think Jack and Irina are going not to heaven but to Spy Purgatory, which is a cargo plane with a curiously well-stocked minibar aboard.
I was watching the finale and trying to rationalize because it was so obnoxiously dumb. And obviously, they're not going to heaven, but I think your spy purgatory sounds pretty nice. But will they have to yell over the noise of the propellers for all eternity?
I like this idea and I can visualize the setting you describe perfectly. I think their voices are well done. This was fun to read. I miss Jack/Irina. Great job!
Oh, man. Thank you for writing this. I feel weirdly . . . emotionally cleansed, or something. I think I am perpetually carrying around my SpyRents-y heartbreak, and I just don't acknowledge how much it, y'know, destroyed me as a human being and everything.
But oh, this! So funny and poignant and calm and brilliantly in-character, and I hereby accept your interpretation of Irina's actions in the finale as canon, because it just makes me feel about a million times better to think of it that way. And oh, the last line just made my soul all melty. SPYRENTSSSS. <3
Ha, glad you liked it. I rewatched the finale and even Irina/Lena was like, '... yeah, I don't even know' so this came to me and... yeah. SpyRentsssss.
