Casting news, film updates, and a red-band trailer

Hello friends, I come bearing casting news, an update on a film project from last year (that was only briefly mentioned in a My Week article back in July), and an R-rated trailer.

one. Olivia's been cast in the tv series, Manhattan. It's a television drama about the building of the first atomic bomb in New Mexico. She plays Liza Winters, a " ( Read more... )

July? That's pretty quick unless she was cast at the end or something and they are basically ready to start filming. Still, it's not usual for US TV, unless you count soap operas or something. WGN has a Salem-related witch show, which I don't think has debuted yet (it kinda looks potentially cheesy, from what I've seen in previews), so we'll see if Manhattan turns out to be better. I think they have the leg up with the cast, at least. Harry Llloyd. <3 Although I wonder how Olivia is gonna swing it with Rhashan's Sky show. I guess they are on opposite filming scheds or something?

And you are clearly being mean linking this Sabotage trailer. ;-P After seeing this, I am now clearly convinced that Hollywood generally does not have a clue on southern US accents, since they've left some of the accent shifting in. Apparently when they use tax breaks in southern US states to film, they don't bother to hang around actual locals.

Well, it's a tv show, so I guess they don't have to film all 13 eps before the show starts airing? I've noticed they'd usually have 5-6 eps done when they start airing.

I think Rhashan's Sky show is done shooting. I think started airing last week? lol.

Her character has the "general Southern US accent". And by "general", I mean, "Hollywood Southern Accent"

No, US TV isn't like UK TV, where they usually have all the eps filmed before it starts airing, but I was saying the "quick" part because usually they do casting a bit sooner (especially for a main role). Maybe Olivia was replacing someone on the dl, or, since WGN is new to original scripted TV they aren't really following conventions from other networks, perhaps.

I meant the US tv shows. US shows would usually have a few eps filmed before they start airing. I remember when they showed Mockingbird Lane on NBC, Bryan Fuller tweeted a picture of Gina Torres as Bella Crawford on Hannibal and Hannibal's premiere was months away (it was around November 2012 and Hannibal premiered in 2013??? I get fuzzy-brained with years lol)

Oh, and I didn't have to sign in to see the Sabotage trailer. I've noticed if you can embed, that's one way to work around that sign-in to verify your age thing. It's happened with a few other 18+ videos that I've seen. And LJ generally has no problem with Youtube embeds (it's one of the few they actually like...forget embed code from other sites), although I think sometimes the site gets tired and doesn't want to show old embeds periodically (but they usually come back).

It doesn't work with me :D. I use a custom setting for my history for mozilla (the counterpart of incognito browsing for google chrome) which means mozilla doesn't know my age unless I log in to my account. lol

Well, unless Youtube just has a pernicious cookie that isn't deleted when cookies are cleared, they don't know my age, either. I clear my cookies/history on almost a daily basis, and don't really log into Youtube that much...it's usually by accident if I haven't logged out of email or something.

ETA: Maybe it's just an extra "punishment" for the incognito browsing, LOL. You have angered the "benevolent" internet overlords. XD

I think google hates me for also having adblock installed on both my mozilla and chrome browsers, refusing to be part of google + and refusing to agree to the "let's put your real name on youtube" thing. And maybe for making fun of google alerts being slower than me. IDK. Google's revenge.
