Siena also gets environmental allergies (leaf mold & pollen)... we have found that cetrizine (a non sedating antihistime) works really well for when she is suffering from sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.. if Sean continues to have environmental allergies, you could ask his doctor about antihistimines such as cetrizine once he turns 2 years old
(I think you need to be 2 years or older to take antihistimines)
Will keep this in mind, thanks! We are more mindful about what sets his sneezing spells off and he does seem a bit better off now but I have a feeling it will be a long-term problem (like mine). Sigh!
HB's PD-friend actually diagnosed something for Jo when we told him about her persistent cold and cough and he prescribed something.. maybe i'll try to get the name of the med and you can ask your doc.
(but we're not being very religious about taking the med.. once she's ok we take her off it until it strikes again)
I too suffer from allergic rhinitis! It is a family joke that I am born to a 'good life' as I CANNOT survive doing (dusty) housework! I'll usually end up in a watery-eyed mess and a very drippy and red nose. Ugh
On another note, I love it that there're so many toy shops and rides to entertain the kids around the PD's clinic!
Growing up, my classmates used to resent me because I was excused from all the classroom chores like dusting the duster and sweeping!
We usually try to book the first appt at the paed's - I try to book weeks in advance - so shops are usually still closed when we are there! But you are right - it is a nice kid-friendly mall. We usually hang around for breakfast and a quick wander anyways :)
Have you tried using an air purifier? I bought one for my house - it's small and portable, so I use alternately in my room and my daughter's room. I think it's helped my husband (his allergic sneezing and eczema). It's not revolutionary or a miracle cure, but I do find that it helps.
Hmm, you know what, the air purifier actually sounds like a really good option for us now. Will definitaly consider getting one soon and see if it eases our sneezing fits in any way, thanks!
This is the one that we use: http://www.novita.com.sg/nac101.html Bought it for $200+ from Robinsons. You should look out for one that comes with a HEPA filter, which is the best type of filter there is.

Glad we got most out of the way when he was a clueless baby, even though I was very traumatised by them then!
