Finally, 81 year old Fidel Castro has resigned as the 'president' of communist Cuba. It's been 49 years in the making.

one of the three, likely become very very slightly closer to Democracy; but not by much until the two of them have finally died. Then some human with a mind to pull back on the reigns of power should likely show up and maybe bring them even closer to Democracy.

when i discovered the news yesterday i was quick to think that not much would change. cuba has always been a communist country since before i was born, so to imagine a different, more democratic cuba is a bit challenging for me. but i've heard raul castro is a little more considerate than his older brother and a bit more flexible. so i guess we'll just have to wait n' see how things turn out.
