Shot them side by side today. I had a good day in general and my rifle marksmanship reflected that. My support is a tractor wagon: that way, I could stay off the muddy ground.

Never ever heard about said latch disengage by itself. Worry you not.

Worried more about having it hit my nose or cheek on recoil. I tend to put my face far forward on carbines.
