NFA rules don't make sense.

Recently, I went to my local gun store to visit my sound suppressor. I am waiting on the ATF approval of the transfer. I am not sure what the point of the approval is: I already have two .223 sound suppressors, so what difference would one more make?

i've been meaning to buy at least one such thing, esp for a sig 522, but haven't gotten around to it, due to the annoyance you mention.

i now have the swat model, tacticool fun. it's really sweet. a yankee machine adapter for the bipod. 50 round magazine for amusement. pride-fowler .22LR scope. yah, it's my favorite. eats cheap ammo like candy. what's not to like? a lot of people at my range are picking them up. awesome.

SIG has announced a 21 inch DMR barrel + wrench for the classic - not clear on price separarely, but if the price is reasonable, i'll get my classic out of hock and buy that. mmm. 21 inch barrel goodness. currently they're selling 522 classics WITH the 21 inch barrel, if you ever felt like grabbing one. awesome time.

even got some specific iron sights for the things (LPA rear / SIG front), perhaps better than the new model SIG is selling.

LOVE the platform :)

the american 225 magazine thing might be amusing too, no?

A very rational, reasonable, logical post on your part. Unfortunately we are dealing with the Federal Government, The Political Process, and specifically, the BATFE. So those three words "rational, reasonable, logical" are inconceivable to them.

You know, the same government whose agency, the FDA, in one week allowed the makers of Doritos to make a health claim for their product, but dis-allowed walnut growers to make any health claims. Ye GO FIGURE.

Well, it makes a big difference to the bureaucrat who has the job of approving the purchase, it means he has a job that sounds very very important. And it makes an even bigger difference to the bureaucrat's manager, who not only has a job but also gets to feel self-important about the vital tasks that he manages.

If they made a decision to approve based on the fact that you've been approved before...these two poor people might not be able to work in the government! Just think how awful that would be for them!
