Saloon pistol ammunition? It's mentioned in the Sherlock Holmes stories that Holmes likes to shoot "V.R." into the walls of his flat with one of those. (I hope Mrs. Hudson got a huge damage deposit from him. I was a landlord myself once, and any tenant of MINE that pulled that sort of stunt would have been out on his ear!)
