This topic seems to come up regularly. With my 4/3 body now in deep infrared configuration, I have no small cameras on hand. My smallest body is Sony A7R, and it’s hefty once 55mm lens is attached. It also lacks close focus.

Maybe Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 Mark II or some other GX? It's only 3/4 sensor, but have electronic viewfinder.

Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II anonymous October 19 2016, 15:51:29 UTC
Lately I've been coveting a Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II. Taking your requirements:

* 1" sensor
* the 8.8-36.8mm lens is equivalent to 24-100mm
* the lens is f/1.8 at the wide end of the zoom range, and would be close to that at the equivalent of 35mm
* the minimum focus distance is 2.0 inches (the magnification is not specified, and I can't be bothered to work out the math, but it's got to be better than 1:5)
* there's no viewfinder, even as an accessory, just the LCD
* definitely pocketable
