Please stop with the safety glasses disclaimer. You're only playing into the hands of the "range nazis".
Let 'em all die of heart attacks from watching range infractions in staged photos.

A person would have to be an idiot to shoot without safety glasses unless it was an dire emergency. If you ever looked at gas flow around a firearm in use, and considered ricochets and ejected casings from other shooters...too many ways to injure delicate eyes. I won't ever recommend anyone I train to fire unsuppressed firearms without hearing protection or any projectile weapons -- bows, arbalests, firearms, etc.-- without safety glasses.

I'm guessing you were "outside" of Austin. There's not to much uncleared scrub inside the city limits.
