So I know I posted a poll months ago asking about another ficathon. I was all excited about it, too. And then I started working at a new job that ate up all my time and energy. (And my soul, but that's for my personal LJ.) Needless to say, running a ficathon was the furthest thing from my mind.
That being said, things have slowed down slightly in hell at the office, so I'm going to give this another try. Here's how it's going to go:
Stories are minimum 1,000 words. If you want to break it into two 500 word stories (or ten 100 word stories), go ahead.
January 31 -- I will post the list of fandoms that were chosen for the last ficathon before the numbers got skewed.
February 1 - 14 -- Submit one or two song lyrics that either mean something to you, or that you've found have inspired fic. For example: "It must be great to be so strong, Never needed anybody's help to carry on, But we're so scared of the silence and the tricks that we use, We're careful and we're cunning, but we're easily bruised." Bulletproof, Blue Rodeo*
I will gather the lyrics together and assign random numbers behind the scenes.
February 15 - 29 -- Sign up for the ficathon with two choices from the list, and a third wild card. You'll also pick a random number. For example: Request 1: Veronica Mars, Request 2: Highlander, Request 3: The IT Crowd, Number: 12.
March 1 -- Assignments go out, along with the lyric that you've chosen.**
April 15 -- Default deadline.
April 30 -- Fics due.
So in the meantime, start jotting down those lyrics that really get the words flowing, or make you think of a particular couple. I hope to see you all sign up! ^_^
*This makes me think of Madeline/Paul (Operations) on La Femme Nikita.
**You don't have to use the lyrics in your story, they're more for inspiration. But you get bonus points if you do use them. ^_^
