a) I had seen that you had friended me and checked out your profile. I found we shared some common interest and the rest is history.

No, I'm not playing the meme. But I AM wishing you a very happy belated birthday. I hope you do exactly what you want to do to celebrate. You are home, aren't you? So that would be the canoe/kayak, right? Although last time you hurt your back. So perhaps you should settle for some quiet fishing with the grandkids followed by gratuitous sex with the wife.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Yes I'm home. The kayak remained in the garage yesterday. Instead my wife and I went to the Tulsa state fair and then out to eat at my favorite German restaurant. This evening I am going to a University of Tulsa football game.

Glad you had a fun time. German food, huh? I've only eaten that one time, and it was many years ago. I don't remember if I liked it or not. What do you love, and I'll see if I can find a restaurant around here. I'm curious.

We went to Octoberfest last night (yes I know it's September) in our downtown area. It was OK, but would have been better without two little kids in tow. If they do it again next year, we'll know better.

I had sauerbraten which is a pork loin cooked in a brown raisin currant sauce with spazle and red cabbage, it was the yum. Another favorite of mine is wienerschnitzle which is usually breaded veal or pork loin. Of course I had to have some apple strudel for dessert.

Small kids at events requiring a lot of walking can definitely put a damper on the fun.
