As I mentioned in my last post, when I was landing in Houston on the way to the UK, I felt like my brain was trying to ooze out of my ears. As it turns out, while waiting for my delayed flight, I felt an itch in my left ear and when I touched it, I discovered it was bleeding!  Of course my first reaction was "Oh marvelous, I have ruptured my ear ( Read more... )

I recently read Nurture by Nature which is more or less MBIT applied to children. My kid seems to fit more than one profile, but closely related profiles (ExTP), so I have an idea of which direction she's headed in as she matures.

I read the chapter on my own type and realized I've been an INTP all my life. I've never had the "official" test done, but it's been a consistent result and if anything, has probably only gotten stronger with time. When I was younger the P/J differential was moderate, but I've definitely become less comfortable with fixed positions and more preferential towards leaving things open and flexible.

I found it kind of interesting even if it was no surprise how strongly I scored on Introvert and Thinker. I was clearly introverted, but very very strongly preferential to Thinker, what a surprise eh?

I'm not surprised at your INTP result even a little bit! Though, if I had to guess, I might've said INTJ, if only because of your scientific leanings and the fact that most of my friends tend to be INTJs!! ;)

I can understand you thinking I would be a J, and one subcategory there where I scored very high "out of prefernce" was systematic as opposed to casual. It was also an area where I was only a moderate preference.

Actually, I am conservative, but not in the neo conservative (GWB, 300 club "Christian Right" sort of way which to my way of thinking is an oxymoron, after all new and conservative?) I am more of a traditional, old school republican conservative who has been sold out by his party. I am conservative in that I believe in the principals of the more local the government, the more effective it will be and there for states should have more power than the federal governement and cities should do more governing than the states. I also am a very firm believer in the constitution (no GW, it is not just a piece of paper!) and the Declaration of Independance. Interestingly enough, about that second document, I remember in the early 70s (my teen years) that a group had circulated the first two paragraphs of the DoI (which I had to memorize when I was in the 5th grade) but only 2% of the people would sign it, saying it was a very "subversive document"

And this above little nuggett is why I love to read your posts ... you never know what you might read. Didn't know that!

Aww shucks! :) I just like to share little tidbits I have picked up over the years. Who knows maybe some of them can help to open up other people's eyes a little bit to a world outside their closed minds? *shrug* Far be it for me to believe, however, that I hold the keys to anyone's enlightenment. I just am a strong believer in trying to make sure I look for the bit of truth that lies in opinions which differ from my own. I just wish everyone shared that concept!
