Well I haven't killed anyone............yet!

Things for me have been positively insane since I left home for this current hitch offshore. I'll try to remember everything from the past week and a bit without making this posting too hunk-a-huge.

Cut for long winded diatribe )

work, travel, crew change

Wow. You have had quite the time of it. It made me tired to READ it, let alone live through it.

I think you should kick a few people who have refused to listen to you and follow instructions. If you like, I will do it for you. *spinning heel kick* (That's a tae kwon do kick that I don't do in actuality any more since I tore my ACL. It must suffice that I do it in print.)

I am so sorry you're having such a hard time with the cigarette eliminations. I admire you for sticking to it, even when you are stressed. I have no words of wisdom for you, as I do not have that particular vice. (Don't worry ... I have plenty of others.) But I will pray for your strength and success.

Good luck.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Unfortunately, I usually don't get to see the opposite crew for long enough at a time to give them the good kicking they deserve. (Though I am familiar with a spinning heel kick, since my son has a black belt in American style karate, which is basically tae kwon do with more punches and marginally different forms for their katas.)

Speaking of my son, there was some good news on that front. I talked with my wife on Sunday and my daughter-in-law kicked her ex's ass in court on the custody hearing for permission fight to take her daughter to Italy to live with my son. Now it is just a matter of the Air Force getting the passports and visas sort out.

That is exceptionally good news! I am so glad for your son's family. I wonder how long it will take for Air Force red tape?

I met a man yesterday who just retired from the military after 20 years in. He was adjusting well, I think (he was registering his daughter for kindergarten). He had been in Germany for five years. He was very interesting to talk to. He kept calling us "civilians." It made me giggle.

I was told that the Air Force should have all of the red tape cleared up within 30 days of the court settlement. So that means by 6 Septemeber. Of course that assumes that my daughter-in-law's ex doesn't win an appeal to get a stay of the daughter-in-law's and my step granddaughter's ability to leave the country.

So you got the giggles over being a civilian eh? After all, we are civilians, though we may not always be so civilized.

Thanks, and I have been working at remembering that sometimes it comes down to one hour or even one minute at a time. :)

The second bit of good news kind of made me smile when I did the play on workds with the first good news combined with the second. I may not have kicked anyone's butt yet, but I am working on kicking the cigarette butts. :)

And yes, a gratitude list always helps put things into a better perspective.
