Update because of the upgrade

After saw this picture in one of the company intranet newsletters, I could not resist adding it to my userpics, especially since theladyskye  will appreciate it. I didn't have any other pics that I wanted to remove from my options in posting to LJ, so I guess I have finally sold out and upgraded to a plus account. (My apologies to my readers for the ( Read more... )

Hmmm, does it at least show up? Since "upgrading" to a plus account, I can only see my pictures now if I go to my profile and look in "userpics" Not what I had in mind at all!

I tried reimporting the picture after cropping it a little first to see if that improves the resolution...

Let me know if it is any better now please

Yes, now I can see the picture. Before it was just a white box.

So what shark is that (do you think)? What would that do to the streamers?

I don't really know, I would guess that maybe it is a nurse shark. It's hard to tell its size, but from what I can see of the bird, I would guestimate that is probably about 8 feet long.

Shark bites have been known to severe streamers, though they don't always. My latest entry mentions what a shark bite (at least I think it was a shark bite) does to the datat that is getting recorded at the time. There have been times when retrieving gear that we have found shark teeth that broke off on birds, which I suspect may have been a shock to the shark as well. The birds have batteries and motors in them so that the fin angle can be adjusted like airplane wings to make the streamer ride deeper or more shallow as desired.

After doing some looking around in Wikipedia, I have decided that it isn't a nurse shark. It may be tiger shark.

It looks very scary, whatever shark it is. Have you ever swam with the sharks?

It goes without saying, I have NOT. Nor will I ever. But if you have, more power to you!

LOL, that kind of reminds me of something my dad used to say about kids. He said "They want to be helpful until such time as they are old enough to actually BE helpful."

Hee. My day was indeed something special and I reckon this year is going to continue in the same vein. I am thirty now, after all, and they do say that life begins only now! I'm very keen to test out this theory.

Thank you so!

*HUGS*
