Why now????

With my son's tour of duty in South Korea due to end by the end of the year, why does North Korea have to select this time to start rattling sabres again? I took a moment when checking my personal email account to check out one of the news links which I have linked below. Needless to say, I am hoping that it was just blustering rhetoric when North ( Read more... )

Oh man. I shall keep all my fingers and all my toes crossed for you. Its such a nasty situation up there and I can't imagine what it must be like having a loved one stationed there.

Thanks for the well wishes, eye crossing too might help. I suppose hoping for the best is about all I can really do now though.

Now that I can easily do, my eyes are naturally cross eyed so if I just take off the glasses...

Sometimes it is all you can do. But never easy to actually do. There's nothing worse than having to sit and be unable to affect a situation. You were in my thoughts today.

*hugs*

Oh, wow. That is very scary. I can understand why you would be nervous. It is not selfish to want your boy to be safe. That is normal for any parent. Of course, I will pray for the safety of your son and all our troops.

You know I have always had somewhat mixed feelings about my son and his choice of the Air Force for a career. Any parent would want their child to select a career that they love and flying jets is just such a that for my son. He loves what he is doing and of course I am very proud of him for serving our country, but I still want him to be safe!

I know he has trained well putting in the blood, sweat and tears during training to minimize the chances of shedding them after the training, but we never know what will happen. And he is my only son after all! All of that being said, if the unthinkable should happen, I hope that I will always be able to remember that he chose to do what he does, he loves it and there can really be know better end to a life well lived than for it to reach its conclusion doing what one loves to do.

I guess I am being a goofy emo dad here, but if that is the case, then so be it!

I do not think you are being goofy or emo at all. I think you are being very wise.
