Hadn't really heard much about Guru - the new Mani Ratnam movie, other than the bare bones- it was written and directed by Mani Ratnam, and was based on Dhirubhai Ambani's life, before I saw it. I think I'lk watch this movie, though I will be disappointed by overly simplistic treatment of the subject.

I suspect though that in the end this is a film that folks would like or dislike based on their politics..
Not me. I do not have any strong political leanings .... so I saw this movie more as a story than anything else. Street smart go-getter from a village managing to suck and bully his way to the top. I too wish the details could be less vague .... the way things are, I found it difficult to form an opinion on the main character. Cut the songs and give me details I say !
Vidya Balan had a strange role .... each frame she was in seemed to imply that her story was important but her story never really got told.
