Dubya's falling star?

The annual meeting of the American Association of the Advancement of Science, is typically everything the name suggests - a pretty staid affair with a room full of senior suited scientists, enjoying a drink or three, occassionally talking science - but mostly catching up on the gossip, with a lot of mutual back-scratching - hardly the venue for a ( Read more... )

Interesting post, good read. For all of India's protest, 71% of Indians favor Bush (D suggests that Bush go and lead India instead of his country then where only 35% favor him). After Poland at 11%, a whopping 7x% of Indians suggest the U.S. as the place to go and live, becoming the top USA supporting nation in the WORLD. Source = Deccan Herald from 3 days ago.

Haven't seen the report - but suspect that this is another example of the "two Indias". Newspapers tend to focus on middle-class Indians for their surveys, and I suspect Deccan Herald was leaning towards B'lore's techies for its respondents. I'm sure Bush has a lot of support amongst middle-class Indians for his pro-outsourcing stance. The protests I think were largely trade and labour union led, so probably drew a differen crowd :-) But, point well taken da, he clearly (unfortunately) has the support of a large number of Indians..

Well, of course he will- he supports outsourcing, doesn't he?

Might seem a little silly, but when the presidential elections were happening last year (or was it the year before that?), I knew a lot of Indians who actually prayed for Bush to win because they felt chances of getting student visas to the US might be affected if Kerry won :s

Yeah, I know - that's essentially what I was referring to as well in my comment to shortindiangirl, middle class Indians support Dubya for his pro-outsourcing stance. The rest of India thankfully seems to be a little more level-headed. None of this of course is to imply that the Democrats are much better - they're just the lesser evil at this point..
