Because this story is such a great, great ending for both of them. And for us, who had loved them and cry for them for years...
But you did it, you give them, finally, a happy end =D
And I loved the way you did, I loved Peg understanding, and BJ love, and Hawkeye bare need. Love the parallel description and how accurate it is.
And, yes, is a happy ending, but it make me cry. But in a really good way =D

I guess it may be unrealistic to really expect a wife (or husband for that matter) to be understanding under such circumstances, but, OTOH, 'if you love someone enough you let them go'.
