The sixth Green Devil adventure. Kelly is her usual self here, not quite in over her head but close. Doc Valentine makes an appearance, which is odd since he was first seen in 1880 dealing with Johnny Packard; in 2003, he turns up again to give Jeremy Bane a hard time. The shameless old reprobate is something of a mystery, not noticeably aging or changing his bad habits in well over a century. I'm not sure what the explanation is.

Little Willie is likely to turn up again, he was from New Orleans originally and he knows Samuel Watesa.

Despite the fact he isn't mentioned in this story, police detective Jim Harkins is still a big part of Kelly's life. I just thought he would complicate the plot and the story worked better without him, The Green Devil's relative obscurity compared to the Sceptre or Mark Drum is a running gag. Even though she works for a newspaper and plays up her masked identity every chance she gets, Kelly somehow can't make the Devil famous.
