At the Library

Julian liked the quiet few minutes he got to himself between classes, and he found that the library was the best place to enjoy them. Whether the staff librarian knew that he was reading comics within the pages of large volume of Caesar's Adventures in Gaul, it hardly mattered. He could hardly be studious every hour of every day. Besides, he had ( Read more... )

Turlough swaggered through the Library. He didn't really care where he was, Turlough almost always swaggered. It probably has something to do with looking like an eighteen year old boy, and knowing a great deal more than one.

He spotted the other boy, who looked comfortably engaged in his book and grinned. He sidled over, and peered at the boy's reading material. Comics inside a textbook, how original. He snorted lightly.

Moving to one side, he slumped into the chair beside the boy and grinned, awaiting a reaction.

Julian had noticed the other boy, not an unusual site, even in the girls school, but paid no mind. It was annoying, and jolly rude too, but one should not aggravate rude and annoying people, as they had a tendency to become loud and violent, as well as rude.

When the young man sat down, however, he allowed himself to look up, glancing over the top of his books. "Can I help you?" He asked, an eyebrow raised at the boy's rediculous grin.

"I don't know," Turlough drawled, clearly enjoying winding the boy up, "can you?" He smirked, and then decided to put the boy out of his misery. He stuck out a hand.

"I'm Turlough. I've seen you about, haven't I? Going back and forth between St T's and St C's. I expect you're a new kid too?" He looked the boy up and down, sizing him up. "You're probably in my year too, aren't you? Lower Sixth."

Turlough wondered if he'd get any response out of the boy at all, or if his teasing had been too much. He wasn't too bothered (at least not outwardly bothered) after all, there were plenty of other pupils at these schools. Still he was new to the place himself, and didn't really know anyone yet.

His look was one of repentance, but it seemed a trifle insincere.

"Kirrin." He introduced himself, shaking the other's hand, as was only polite. "I've been here a little while now. Enough to get the lay of the land." He admitted, nodding at the other's comment about their shared year group. He had noticed this Turlough around, yes, but the boy didn't seem to be his sort. But one should never judge a book by it's cover.

"Have you a free period between lessons?" He asked, closing his book. He doubt the presence of this red-head would allow him anymore time to himself, and there was only a few minutes left until next period as it was.
