Feeding the birds

For a long time now, probably several years, I have faithfully made sure the birds in my woods had sunflower seeds at the feeders. I have gone a whole week now without feeding them - I was imaging them scattered throughout the woods dead ... on there backs with their little feet up in the air with an "X" in each eye.
